ESP8266 - In this product category, you will find several different breakout boards with the ESP8266 chip. The advantages of breakout boards are many. For one, they are often SMD (Surface Mounted Device), which makes them very small. The most common type of integrated circuit takes up more space and is called DIP (Dual In-line Package). Many people also prefer the ESP8266 as a breakout board because it makes it easy to reuse the component. If you want to start a new project, it's not that complicated! If you're not interested in a breakout board, you can of course buy the ESP-12F chip itself from us! We also have a chip with both WiFi and Bluetooth, called the ESP32. In recent years, many different software options have emerged for the ESP8266. These include NodeMCU and MicroPython. Two boards based on the ESP8266 from Adafruit are pre-programmed with NodeMCU. The Adafruit HUZZAH is easy to use with breadboards and is best suited for static projects. The Adafruit Feather HUZZAH can be used for mobile projects and works with Arduino Feather shields for increased functionality.
